Client Overview

Thermal Concepts collaborated with the Turner Guilford Knight (TGK) Correctional Center in Miami, Florida, to execute a comprehensive HVAC retrofit project aimed at enhancing the facility’s environmental control systems.

Scope of Work

The retrofit project focused on upgrading the existing HVAC infrastructure within the correctional facility. This included the replacement of outdated air handling units, chillers, and associated components to improve system efficiency and reliability. The project also encompassed the installation of new ductwork and ventilation systems to ensure optimal air quality and temperature control throughout the facility.

Facility Modernization Support

This retrofit was part of broader efforts by Miami-Dade Corrections to modernize its infrastructure and improve facility conditions. Thermal Concepts supported this mission by updating critical HVAC systems to meet today’s performance and efficiency standards.

Design with Security & Stability in Mind

Working in a secure correctional environment requires precision and coordination. Thermal Concepts implemented systems that not only enhanced comfort but also aligned with the strict operational protocols of a 24/7 detention facility.

Project Impact: 3 Key Accomplishments

  • Improved Air Quality & Comfort
Upgraded systems provided better ventilation and climate control for both inmates and staff.
  • Reduced Energy Use
High-efficiency equipment cut energy consumption and lowered utility costs.
  • Increased System Reliability
New infrastructure minimized breakdowns and reduced maintenance demands.
